158 mile relay Run Across Illinois to End Alzheimer’s
Why run to end Alzheimer’s?
The Dryfhout family is hosting the inaugural Run Across Illinois 158 mile relay to raise funds to end Alzheimers disease. Our mother, Jan Dryfhout, has been diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimzers, a disease that also impacted her mother, brother and many other close relatives.
Our family has raised funds for the Alzheimers Association by running the Chicago Marathon in the past several years and in 2015 we ran the first ever Run Across Illinois event. The outpouring of support was truly amazing and were touched by the number of people whose lives have been impacted by Alzheimers.

Donate to End Alzheimer’s

We are raising funds that will go to the Alzheimer’s Association to help find a cure. All donations are securely collected through GoFundMe and all proceeds will directly benefit Alzheimer’s Association to advance research to end Alzheimer’s and dementia while enhancing care for those living with the disease.
There are two ways to donate:
1) Run Across Illinois ‘GoFundMe’: like last year, all proceeds go to the Alzheimer’s Association while also helping out with race expenses. Click HERE to donate via ‘GoFundMe’.
2) NEW! Run Across Illinois ‘Alzheimers Association’: This year you can donate directly to the Alzheimer’s Association if you desire a tax deductible receipt or for corporate matches. Click HERE to donate directly to the Alzheimer’s Association.

How many miles would I run?
Each runner will commit to a certain number of miles they feel comfortable achieving. That can be 1 mile or 20 miles, it’s completely up to you! We have available spots for runners so please include anyone else that may be interested…it’s always fun to run with a few friends!
How do I sign up?
Just click RUNNER REGISTRATION to sign up. The registration fee is $35 which will go toward expenses for the race. Please note that you will put an initial mileage commitment and estimated pacing (used to estimate leg start/stops). You can adjust your mileage and pacing later.
What’s the route?
The 158 mile run begins at the Mississippi River in Fulton, IL and ends at the Indiana border in Lansing, IL. The route will be divided into four “legs” which will be run by a collection of individuals on a team with a leader. Click HERE for the detailed route on MapMyRun
Transportation will be with the running team at all times. We will also have a shuttle taking runners back and forth to their vehicles as needed.
